Hello all, this is Helen from Radio Lollipop in Newcastle.
We are a radio station for children in hospital in Newcastle. We are hoping to run a full week of programmes (June 26th-30th) focussed on childhood cancer but we want to give the positive aspects that the experiece can give to families.
As part of the week, we will be having a siblings focussed day because we recognise that siblings play an important part in the recovery of children with cancer and that they also need some recognition for their patience and support.
We are looking for some short pieces of writing from siblings of children of people with cancer to share with our listeners.
The title for the piece of writing is
"Being a super-sib...why I wouldn't change my experience."
and we welcome contributions from people of all ages. We are hoping to get as much material as possible that we can use to publicise the work of our own charity and also tell the world why siblings are important to kids fighting cancer! We also want to give out some information about siblinks to patients and their families incase they have not heard of the organisation.
Please please please, send us your pieces of writing, whether it's one line or one hundred lines, we don't mind. There will be a small Radio Lollipop" prize for the best piece of writing. We will change the names of anyone mentioned when we read out the stories on air so that privacy is respected at all times.
