dude i can really relate with you on the school front. my mom got cancer at the end of last year and it was decided we needed someone at home to help around the house so i had to leave my cal state and go back home to the community college. it's tough going back esp when everything was starting to look so good. i'll admit, it's tough putting yourself aside and backtracking to a junior college is no fun but it'll work itself out eventually. i wish you luck and i hope it all works out for you

Hi

I'm new to this board and have just read your message.  You sound so strong. I'm 23 and have a mum with cancer with secondaries so I know how you feel, but you're a lot younger so I imagine it is even harder. Is it possible that you can repeat your year in school and then apply for uni next year if your grades aren't as good as you would like? It's inevitable that you're going to get distracted so don't be too hard on yourself.

love

Sadie

Hey everyone, my name is Katie and I'm 17. I live in Sydney, Australia.
My dad has had cancer for about 18 months, it started when he got bowell cancer, and had 18 inches of his colon removed. He then had 6 months of chemo, and went into remission. About 6 months ago he was diagnosed with two tumors in his lung and seconday cancers in his adreanel glands. Because of the secondary cancers, surgery was not an option, and the only option was to have more chemo. He had 4 months of chemo, and when he had more scans, it was found that the tumor had grown up into his windpipe and was obstructing his airway, making him sound like he had lost his voice. He had one session of radiation therapy, but it was then decided that there was nothing more that they could do to stop the cancer. He is now on oxygen lying in a bed at home in pallaitive care. About 3 weeks ago he was given 2 months to live. I'm in my final year of school, and i need good grades to get into university, but i get so distracted that i dont think its going to happen.
I'm sure there are others out there feeling the ways that im feeling at the moment. If you want to chat, my email is triquad@hotmail.com

Stay Strong,
Katie
xxxxx
